Phil Gordon chapped by Joe Arpaio’s immigration patrols

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon bristled Monday at the way Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio sent deputies on saturation patrols in an east Phoenix neighborhood during the Easter weekend.
Arpaio sent sheriff’s deputies to the area of East Thomas Road and North 32nd Street after business owners contacted him to complain about day laborers loitering and committing petty crimes. Sheriff’s deputies patrolled the area, issued traffic citations and arrested illegal immigrants they came across.Gordon said he hopes Arpaio will notify Phoenix Police officials before conducting similar operations in the future.
“The sheriff has concurrent jurisdiction – we certainly acknowledge that – but for whatever reason, the communication in advance and the coordination in advance has not occurred and I’m very concerned about the safety of his officers and our officers,” Gordon said before a press conference on a different topic at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office action also could be turning the Hispanic community against law enforcement in general, Gordon said.
“We need everyone to testify against violent criminals – murderers, drug dealers, burglars. And the reports that I’m getting from many Police Departments is that a good segment of the Hispanic community is afraid to go out and testify,” Gordon said.

It appears that Sheriff Joe is the only one doing anything about the illegal immigrants, and needs more cooperation from the various law enforcement people around the valley. I find it hard to believe you are not aware what he is doing, which is what your people should be doing in the first place. If no one does anything we are going to be over run by illegals…..

So, Sherriff Joe has run out of immigrants to arrest on the county islands? This guy is unconscious. He can’t do any good work of his own so he has to tear apart people who are. Maybe Mayor Gordon should go to Honduras so he can learn more about the viiolent street gangs being formed by. . . . illegal Hondurans?

As a hispanic woman, I feel what the sheriff and his people are doing is right.
The people turning the hispanic community are the (hispanic community).
All I hear on hispanic TV & radio is how to avoid the POLICE (ALL POLICE).
YOU NEED TO TELL THE HISPANIC TO STOP ALL THE PROPAGANDA THAT IT SPREADS.
Stop blaming the people of Arizona for what the hispanic people are going to themselves.
All the attorneys, are making lots of money from these people when they know that they CANNOT make an ILLEGAL,, legal.

They aren’t afraid to call the police when they are being held in drop houses and trying to escape are they.They call the police when they need them.The Sheriff needs to keep it up.The city of Phoenix is a disgrace when it comes to protecting legal citizens.The rights of the illegals mean more to Gordon than the rights of legal law abiding citizens.I hope this year marks the end of Phil Gordon’s political carreer.Maybe he can go to work for Sal and Tupac selling coffee for them.

Let Sheriff Joe do his job. He is only enforcing the laws that the people have voted for. We want illegal aliens arrested. Please let him bring some sanity to our city.
