Jon Kyl took on the question of whether children born in the United States to parents who are illegal immigrants are U.S. citizens by birthright.Kyl, who is an attorney by training, said those children may not, in fact, be entitled to automatic U.S. citizenship, which currently is the widely accepted practice.

I think that an amendment is in order. The original intent did not address illegal immigration because there was no illegal immigration at that time. The amendment should include the phase “born to legal residents of the US”
