Jon Kyl took on the question of whether children born in the United States to parents who are illegal immigrants are U.S. citizens by birthright.Kyl, who is an attorney by training, said those children may not, in fact, be entitled to automatic U.S. citizenship, which currently is the widely accepted practice.

With enemies like this, who needs friends?

Elias Bermudez (center)Apparently Elias Bermudez missed the memo that states that anyone interested in public policy is expected to demonize anybody and everybody who holds contrary political views.Bermudez is president of Immigrants Without Borders and is one of the leading voices in the local immigration reform movement. He is an outspoken advocate of providing legal status to illegal immigrants already living in the United States, and creating a temporary worker system that would allow foreign nationals to cross the border to obtain jobs here.A few months ago, he told me that building a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border is a waste of money.
