This is bad news for the donkey crowd. The latest Rocky Mountain Poll of Arizona voters shows that Republicans would win just about any possible head-to-head competition between the Republicans

If Indpendents would register to a party and vote in the primaries, I would ventura a guess that AZ would be very close to turning “blue” in the forseeable future. And certainly Obama would win Arizona’s nomination over Hillary.

The trick is, to get people to actually vote in the primaries, and Independents can’t vote unless they are registered to a party.

I changed my registration just so I could vote for Obama in the primaries. When I’m done with that, I’ll change it back.

That might have been the case in the past, but independents can, if fact, vote in primaries in Arizona. Furthermore, they can vote any single party’s primary. So they can vote in the Dem primary in 2008 and in the Rep primary in 2010 if they choose.
